Registration of Adoption

Adoption in Vanuatu

CRIM is mandated by the CRIM Act to register all adoptions made pursuant to an order of the Supreme Court of Vanuatu and adoptions outside of Vanuatu from an overseas registration authority with one or more of the adopted parents being a citizen of Vanuatu.

Custom Adoption: Please note that at CRIM we value Custom Adoption but due to International Regulation it is important to get a Court Order of Adoption so this adoption can be recognized internationally. 

Steps to Register

Adoptee or their legal guardian(s) come to the CRIM Headquarters Registration Centre in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOIA) or a CRIM Provincial Registration Centre.

Adoptee or their legal guardian(s) must provide the Supreme Court of Vanuatu Adoption Order.

Adoptee or their legal guardian(s)must complete the Registration of Adoption Form.

Registrar completes the registration of the Adoption process.

Adoptee or their legal guardian(s) is provided with a Birth Certificate and Vanuatu ID Card.

Photo

Optional CRIM Standard Photo of the person being registered (this is provided by CRIM). If the child is under two, they can be accompanied by their parents in the picture.
