A registered marriage is legally recognised, which gives rights to inheritance, family benefits, and a pension. It allows you to egally change your name and obtain an updated Vanuatu ID, and it keeps your child’s family tree updated.

Any citizens married outside of Vanuatu are required to update their marital status with CRIM within 30 days of becoming married.
